As his Eagle Scout project, Carter Taillefer of Grafton Scout Troop 106 , with the support of the Grafton lions Club, planned and built a ceremonial flag retirement pit for the  Vernon Hill Post 435 American Legion. Here is the dedication and flag retirement ceremony held on June 14th 2025 at the Vernon Hill Post. Plaques honoring each branch of the military is embedded in the foundation of the pit and was  unveiled by veterans of each branch.
